BAPS Charities is a global volunteer-driven charity, active in Canada and eight other countries across five continents. BAPS Charities aims to express a spirit of selfless service through Health Awareness, Educational Services, Humanitarian Relief, Environmental Protection & Preservation and Community Empowerment.

 

BAPS Charities Canada has most recently supported communities in 57 cities across the country by donating PPE to hospitals, distributing care packages, donating food to food banks, making phone calls of support, educating people through webinars and other initiatives to help those impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. BAPS Charities Canada also hosted a vaccine clinic which vaccinated over 21,000 Canadians. Through its affiliated centers and hospitals, BAPS Charities is also supporting relief initiatives in India to assist victims and their families affected by the pandemic. iPartner India, Canada is a Canadian charity working on projects to provide safe shelter, nutrition and education to vulnerable children in India. Their focus is on the education of girls in Rajasthan who are vulnerable to exploitation, giving them a chance of a better life.

Water Aid Canada

In partnership with WaterAid Canada the, ICICI Bank Canada will support Project Boond, which aims to improve the quality of life in marginalized communities in the Gaya and Madhubani districts of Bihar, India through increased access to Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) services. Improving equitable access to safe and affordable drinking water, sanitation facilities, and hygiene education, particularly for women, girls, and vulnerable groups, is a focal point of Project Boond. In collaboration with local governments and community organizations, Project Boond will establish new infrastructure and rehabilitate exiting systems to expand access to piped water, handwashing stations, and latrines for households, schools, healthcare facilities, and public institutions. Currently, only 11.7% of the population of Bihar State has a piped water supply and reliable access to safe water remains unavailable for the majority of the population due to water contamination. ICICI Bank Canada and WaterAid Canada signed an MoU for a continued partnership.

 

As India faces a second wave of COVID-19, WaterAid is urgently scaling up work to bring clean water, toilets, and hygiene facilities to people who need it most. COVID-19 is burdening healthcare services across India and healthcare facilities are trying to cope with the enormous pressure of people requiring care, the needs in these facilities for water, decent toilets and hygiene require immediate attention.
