Applying for a Credit Card:

What are the eligibility requirements to apply for an ICICI Bank Canada credit card?


To be eligible for an ICICI Bank Canada credit card, you have to be at least the age of majority in the province where you reside. You must be over 18 years of age if you reside in Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, Prince Edward Island or Saskatchewan and must be over 19 years of age if you reside in British Columbia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland, Northwest Territories, Nova Scotia, Nunavut or Yukon. If you are a Quebec resident, you are not eligible for an ICICI Bank Canada credit card at this time.

 

In addition to residing in Canada, applicants must also be one of the following: i) a Canadian citizen residing in Canada, ii) a landed immigrant or iii) a permanent resident (PR) of Canada with a valid work visa/permit or study permit.

What is a secured credit card?


A secured credit card is issued against a cash collateral deposit with the Bank. The credit limit established for your card will depend, among other requirements, on your deposit amount.

How do I apply for an ICICI Bank Canada credit card?


To apply for an ICICI Bank Canada credit card, visit a local ICICI Bank Canada branch. Please click here to find your closest branch and its hours of operation.

I have applied for a credit card. When will I get it?


Once you are approved for a credit card, it could take up to 15 business days from the date you submitted your application to receive your card.

What documents do I need to provide in order to apply?


You will need two pieces of valid identification to apply for a credit card. Please click here for a list of acceptable types of identification. Refer section III schedule A and B.

Can I apply for a credit card if I am new to Canada?


If you have no credit history in Canada, you may apply for a secured ICICI Bank Canada Coral Visa* credit card. Please visit one of our branches to complete and submit an application along with the required documents.

 

Required documents (one from each category):

  1. Immigration documents:
    • Permanent Resident (PR) card
    • Confirmation of permanent residence (IMM Form #5292)
    • Temporary immigration permit (IMM Form #1442, 1208, 1102)
  2. Identification documents:
    • Valid passport
    • Canadian driver’s licence
    • Canadian government identification card

Does ICICI Bank Canada offer a reward program with their credit cards?


We offer Cash Back Rewards for using our credit cards, subject to established terms and conditions. Please click here for details. Depending on the category of credit card you have the rewards you earn will differ, but there is no limit to the amount of Cash Back Rewards you can earn with your card! Plus, you can choose a Bonus category to earn extra Cash Back Rewards. You can also change your category every 6 months to match your spending pattern.

How do I redeem my Cash Back Rewards?

How do I know which merchants are included in each Cash Back Rewards Program category?

How do I change the category in the Cash Back Rewards program that I have chosen?


You could change the category in the Cash Back Reward program every 6 months by contacting our 24-hour Customer Contact Centre at 1-888-424-2422. It may take up to 2 business days to process your request.

Using my Credit Card:

How do I activate my new card?


Please call our 24-hour Customer Contact Centre and follow the instructions. You will need to have your credit card and Personal Identification Number (PIN) handy.

How do I make purchases with my credit card?


Step 1: Enter your credit card into the chip-enabled terminal
Step 2: Follow the instructions including entering your PIN (remember to protect your PIN)
Step 3: Keep your card in the terminal until you are prompted to remove it
Step 4: Remove your card and take your receipt

Can I use my credit card to get cash from an Automated Teller Machine (ATM)?

How can I access my credit card account online?


Please visit icicibank.ca and go to the Login section to access your credit card account online. You can use this portal to view your transactions and rewards balance. You will need your Customer Identification Number (CIF) and password to log in. CIF is your login ID and is a 9-digit number beginning with 960. If you don’t have this number, please call us at 1-888-424-2422.

How do I pay my credit card bills?


You may pay your credit card bills using one of the following options:

  • Online at icicibank.ca
  • Through your financial institution
  • By phone at 1-888-424-2422

Can I use my credit card for online purchases?


Yes, you can use your credit card for most online purchases.

What should I do if my card is lost or stolen?


You should call our 24-hour Customer Contact Centre immediately at 1-888-424-2422, or 1-416-847-7979 from overseas. We will disable your card and a new card will be mailed to you within 7 - 10 business days.

What if I have a complaint about my account?


At ICICI Bank Canada, we believe customer satisfaction is key. We will do our best to assist and clarify any queries you have. Further, we have a complaint resolution process to address your concerns. Please click here for details.

How do I keep my account in good standing?


You should always pay at least the minimum amount by the due date as shown on your statement every month to ensure that your account remains in good standing. This will prevent your credit score from being negatively impacted. You will be charged interest on the remaining balance, but your account will remain in good standing. You should try and pay off as much of your balance as possible to limit interest charges.

How are foreign currency transactions charged?


All transactions in a foreign currency (including credits for merchant refunds) will be charged in Canadian dollars at an exchange rate determined by the payment card network (Visa). Interest fees where applicable, will be charged in Canadian dollars on the converted Canadian amount. We will also charge a conversion fee per transaction, which is set out in our Disclosure Statement for credit cards. The above-mentioned currency conversion procedures apply to both debit and credit transactions on your credit card account and the conversion will occur on the day the transaction is posted to your account.

Can I retain my credit card if I immigrate to other country?


No, you cannot keep your card if you migrate out of Canada. You need to be a Canadian citizen or resident to be an ICICI Bank Canada credit card account holder.

How do I check the amount of interest charged to my account?


Interest charges accumulated on your account for the previous month’s billing period can be viewed on your monthly statement. Statements will be mailed to your home address or you can sign up to receive your statements electronically.

What is an interest-free grace period and how long is it?


Also known as a grace period, an interest-free period is the period between the end of a statement period and the date your payment is due. Please refer to the Important Disclosures that you receive with your card for more information.

What happens if my payment is delayed (either by cheque or online payment) beyond the payment due date?


If your payment is not received by the due date, it is considered late and the outstanding amount will accrue interest. Please allow 7 – 10 business days for us to receive and process any payments sent by mail.

How do I report fraud?


To report fraud on your account, please contact our 24-hour Customer Contact Centre at 1-888-424-2422.

Safety and Security:

What measures are put in place to ensure my transactions are secure?


Your credit card comes equipped with an embedded microchip that stores cardholder information securely and simultaneously provides additional security against counterfeiting or card duplication. It also comes with an extra layer of security in the form of a Personal Identification Number (PIN) that is only known to you and confirms that only you are authorized to make transactions with your card.

What is Visa Zero Liability Policy?


Your ICICI Bank Canada credit card is covered by Visa Zero Liability Policy, to protect you against fraudulent transactions. If someone steals your account number to make purchases either in-store or online, you will not be responsible for the fraudulent transactions as long as you have keep your information safe and inform us promptly if you suspect your account has been compromised.
