Who can open an account through the Hello Canada App?

Individuals applying from within Canada can open a HiSAVE® Savings Account, Premium Savings Account, HiVALUE® Chequing Account, HiVALUE® PLUS Chequing Account, Basic Chequing Account or Remittance Account through the Hello Canada App. International applicants can also begin the process online using the dedicated application option. Existing customers can log in to open additional accounts quickly without repeating the full registration process.

How long does it take to open and access my account?

The digital application process is designed to be quick and convenient. After registering, selecting your products and completing online identity verification, your account number is issued once the application is approved. Online banking access is typically enabled within 24 hours, after which you can securely fund and start using your account.

What products can I apply for online?

You can apply online for a HiSAVE® Savings Account, Premium Savings Account, HiVALUE® Chequing Account, HiVALUE® PLUS Chequing Account, Basic Chequing Account and Remittance Account. These options allow you to manage daily banking, build savings and invest securely through one streamlined digital journey.

How do I fund my new account after approval?

Once online access is activated, you can fund your account electronically using available transfer options. If required, you may also mail a personalized cheque of CAD50 or more payable to yourself at the provided mailing address. Funding confirms account activation and allows you to begin transacting or earning interest, depending on the product chosen.

Are joint accounts and registered products available online?

Yes, but with some conditions. Joint account applications, GICs and certain registered products may require additional steps or forms. Some registered accounts, such as specific RSP or TFSA products, may not support joint ownership. For spousal RSP accounts or transfers from another financial institution, customers may need to submit forms or contact customer support for guided assistance.
